I have my engine out. Didn't have to disassemble the galley to remove the engine. The fuel tank has a couple of pitted spots that should be repaired. Otherwise, I will have to cut the AL tank out and replace it with a new one.
Ideally, I get the tank out, clean it very well and inspect the inside. If no pitting from the inside is discovered, have a welder add patch panels on the exterior pitted spots, repaint, and reuse the tank.
How do I disassemble the galley enough so the tank will come out? Is it non-destructive? The opening is 20 inches wide, and the tank is 24 inches wide with no space to rotate it vertically.
Another option is to reinstall the insulation from the staples and screws, wait until tank develops a leak, then cut the tank out since I can do that with the new engine in place. Which might be in a year, or ten years..
I pulled the original 50 Gal iron tank out and had to cut a portion of the cabinet.
Here's a thread that has pictures of where I made the cuts:

There are other threads on here about fuel tank replacement you can find.
It wasn't exactly easy to get the tank out but doable. The cuts were not really noticeable after reassembly.
Thanks SVJourney!
Update - I managed to get it out without cutting anything. The port side bulkhead is affixed with a few screws on the bulkhead side, facing the engine bay. The vertical board across the alcohol tank cabinet is screwed into the bulkhead, and comes out in one piece with it. That vertical board is glued across the bottom - I was able to easily delaminate it with a flat head screw driver. The other end of that vertical board is nailed in. If you're patient, you can pull the nails, but I just broke it off.
I also had to remove the panel that is facing the engine bay on the galley sink side. That is a bit more confusing but a few staples across the top insulation and a few screws, it pops right out.
After that it was just wiggling around and trying not to break any of my bilge pump wires.
Left it on my cockpit until I can get a second set of hands to help me get it into my van.
