Post by: stephandjaysail365 on January 27, 2022, 05:00:02 PM
Hello,

Im wondering if anyone can tell me the size packing that goes in a 1981 365 ketch? Im away from my boat right now and Im hoping to order some prior to traveling to it again.  1/4? 1/8?

Any help is appreciated.

I can't recall the exact size but I can tell you 90% of the Flax packing that we sell is 3/16" diameter. We stock 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16".  The 5/16" package is yellow and old.  We have only sold 2 1/4" in the past 2 years.  What I tell people is too purchase what your best guess is and one one either side, so if we think it is 3/16" then purchase the 1/8" & 1/4" as a hedge.  It is always returnable.

Check the condition of the log hose while you are all bent up and down there.  The hose is only available from one company at this point, but it is a good one, Buck Algonquin.  If the hose is/goes bad you will sink the boat. To change it you must split the prop flanges and pull the bottom half off of the prop shaft.

Thanks!

You saved me a bunch of effort! Do you happen to know the shaft diameter off the top of your head as well?

Would appreciate it.
