Title: Exhaust Manifold Nut Torque Specifications on W40
Post by: Ruvel on October 30, 2020, 02:04:13 PM
Hi Everyone,

I've been searching for the torque specifications for the 4 nuts that attach the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head on the Westerbeke 40, but haven't had any luck. I did find the specs for the W58 which states 20-24 ft. lbs.. I would assume that the W40 would be less, something like 18 ft. lbs.. Does anyone here know the correct torque specifications for them?

Thanks.

Westerbeke 40s are either Perkins 4.108 or Perkins 4.107. This might help

I would check those before using them.  For instance, the exhaust bolt values are for bolts, not nuts.  They list as M10, which is 10mm and the 4-107 uses standard sizes.
I don't bother to try and torque the exhaust.  Use new gaskets and snuggle them down with a wrench.
