Title: Anchor shackle. What is best?
Post by: Hooligan on September 26, 2018, 07:36:00 AM
So I go out and buy the best American anchor chain and nylon rode I can find. Then I go down to West Marine and all they have is cheap Chinese shackles. It just does not make sense to have my very expensive anchor, connected to my very expensive chain and nylon rode by a cheap Chinese piece of junk. After spending a few thousand dollars on the anchor and rode I am willing to spend what ever it takes to get a good, safe shackle. What do you have connecting your anchor to your rode? I think I will look into a good, not made in China, swivel.

Hooligan,

Try these. . .

Crosby G-209A shackles
The 3/8 shackle has a 7/16" pin dia, which fits the ID of 5/16" Hi test G4 chain

Don't confuse the G-209A with G-209, which has half the WLL
