I would appreciate some ideas on how to tie the dingy while it is on the davits to keep it from swinging while underway. The captain is considering mounting some hypalon D-rings to the tubes on the side closer to the boat and running straps through those. We've been running long straps all the way over and under and back to the stern rail, but that process is difficult to say the least.
You'll probably need some diagonals running from port bow to stbd stern (tied to the boat) of the dingy and port stern to stbd bow (again tied to the boat, assuming dingy bow points to port of the main boat), then some ss ratchet straps that pull the dingy into the stern rail. Without the diagonals, the dingy will sag to the low side when healing.
We tried using Drings on the tubes but the dingy would still swing side to side. Eventually through bolted eye bolts on the fiberglass bottom. Easy to connect with carabiners, then run to aft cleats.
Diagonals are the key, as well as keeping the hoist tackle short. I have a RIB and rig diagonals from the bow eye and another from an eye in the transom. The transom line runs under the tube. I have cleats on the stern rail uprights that I tie to. This works well most of the time but I do add a ratchet strap when "offshore".
Thanks y'all. I'll relay these suggestions to the captain.
