Title: Max-prop re-install
Post by: Leo II on May 24, 2016, 12:58:18 PM
i took my max prop apart last winter and because I was clueless and like to cause myself problems I did not note what the pitch was set to.  From what I have gleaned from previous posts it should either be 10 or 12 degree left hand. I have a w40 with paragon saod and Walter v drive. Does anyone know which pitch setting to choose?

I confused pitch with blade angle. It's a 17" propellor my pitch options are 10.4, 11.6, or 12.9.

It seems like 11.6 is the way to go.

My 365 ketch  #269 doesn't back down well when I dock bow-in with seasonally heavy wind off my stern quarter. Same engine and drive.  I'm considering a max prop 3 blade.   PYi  wrote: 2 Blade 17" diameter by 12" pitch for a 1 1/8" shaft $1950.00. 3 Blade 17" diameter by 10" pitch for a 1 1/8" shaft $3000.00.

I know there are many newer props of this type for sale since they first came out. Are you happy with yours?  Would you suggest anything else?

Thanks for your advice,
