Title: genoa track
Post by: P69 on May 02, 2016, 11:14:43 PM
Who here has ever used the forward 2 or 3 feet of genoa track for a sheet lead?  I'm thinking of cutting it back a bit so I can put a cleat amidship.  I have never rolled the genoa up far enough to move the sheet lead up that far. I just rolled  it up and used the fore staysail, which has its own track on coach roof.

Risto, didn't you dump your club and go with loose-foot with tracks?  If so, have you led the staysail sheets to the outer track?  I put my tracks on the coach roof and they are great for close haul, but on a reach, the lead should be a bit farther outboard, but not sure how far.

Thanks
Craig

My working sail is a 110. So the car needs to go within 1 foot of the forward end of the track to trim the sail optimally . I have cleats amidships but they are Genoa track car cleats. They can be moved around the accommodate fenders and spring lines.

Thanks Pete
I knew there had to be a reason. I'll keep it for now.

We have 2 genoa track cleats on each side.  They are good for spring lines and hanging fenders and side roping the dingy.  Love em.  Nice that they move to suit too.   Probably not as strong as a through bolted cleat, but they have held well in some wild conditions.
