While on the road last week, I found an old list of Pearson 365s and 367s. I have updated the list with boats I have found (mostly from this site) and posted the list on our website. The list accounts for about 94 boats at this time
http://www.sailingseadragon.com/KnownBoats.htm (http://www.sailingseadragon.com/KnownBoats.htm)
Two things,
First and foremost, if you are uncomfortable having your boat listed, PLEASE let me know so I can quickly remove you from the list.
Second, if you know of any other 365/367 boats contact me and I will add them to the list.
Thanks

Cool.
Does anyone know how many 365's and 367's were made in total?
It was noted that the best selling Pearsons were the 26 (1,700) and the Pearson 30 (1,100). And the top selling cruising boats were the 365 & 424. But no numbers are given.
My understanding is that about 49 Cutters were built.
The highest 365 hull number in the list is 400. My guess is that the total number of 365 ketch/sloops built is somewhere in the range of 500.
I have no idea how many were built in the pilothouse configuration.
I, like you, would like to know.
Garner
I believe it was 405 365's.
Hi All, I am new and for what it's worth my P365 is hull#93 and is documented as SIRENA our home port is Smith Cove NH I am glad to see an active site again. Travel safe friends, Im glad to be in good company again. Merman 365

I took a second look at my laminated HIN number.
What would be the considerd correct year of the vessel? The boat documentation has it manufactured in 1981 but commissioned in 1982.
The HIN number has 82.
That makes it a 1982 model correct? I have revised my profile to reflect the 1982 year.
Leo,
That would make it a 1982...
I am sure you already understand HINs and Pearson's numbering scheme, but for others the following link may be useful.

Congrats on the purchase! I've been aboard 'Decision' - sailed on her a little bit - I'm sure you'll enjoy her.
Lin and Larry Pardey happen to be aboard Taleisin right next to 'Decision' in Port Townsend at the time. I like their cruising attitude - keep it simple.
Add us to the list. We just purchased 365 hull #180. S/V Magic out of Port Arthur, Tx. Ray and Wanda Deming.
Just wanted to give an update, S/V Pegasus, hull #1 has been sold, the new owners are keeping her named the same, and I'm sure they will be incontact with you soon to join the site.

Finally got in! Extremely happy to become a member. Anyway my boat is "Vejigante" she is hull # 87, a 1976 cutter rigged ketch. I've owned her for two years now and trying to get her back in shape after being neglected (in my opinion)by previous owners. There is another 365 here in Salinas Bay I will contact the owner and have him sign up.

Hi All, Well it looks like Sirena is off the hard and heading south to the Charm City Baltimore! I am sailing down from Great Bay Nh I hope to be in my new slip by the 7th of July 08. I would love to hook up with anyone in the Baltimore area to show me the bay. I will be living aboard at Anchorage Marina and working in B'More for at least the next 3 years. Give me a shout out and Cheers to all of you.....It's GREAT to be sailing again.

Another boat can be added. Formerly Impulse is now Sea Chelles 1980 Pearson 365 hull #354. kept in Mandeville, La. on Lake Pontchartrain, homeport Clinton, La. My previous 365 is still in the woods from katrina . It is Gabriel #208 (spare parts) hull intact but recovery not likely.
Welcome Pat....lots of good people here ready to share info!
Michael...good news on the "new" P365....what a shame about Gabriel lost in the woods....what a way to go.
Looking through the list Independence must not have been built in 1972 as per all the other 365s. Checking my documentation says its built in 1975 that still conflicts with the list as other lower numbered boats are 1976 or later. So I'll have to check the HIN number when I get back aboard in November and give you an update.
I feel better that the old gal is not as old as I thought. I am, she's not.

Hi All,
I'm in the process of buying a Pearson 365 Ketch hull via a lien auction that has been abadonned in San Diego. From your blog I have learned that the builder's plate is attached to the hull below the companioway. On this particular boat there are 2 small hole below directly the companionway (viewed from the cockpit) that seem to indicate that the HIN plate has been removed.
Is there any other place on the hull where the HIN number may appear. There is old documentation onboard that lists the Hull number and the official numbers (not sure how that is derived)from a previous owner, but even if the laywers can produce a clean CA DMV title I will certainly need to match the HIN to the physical hull before I agree to purchase this boat from the lien holder.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
The hull number was on a plate where you are looking. The HIN is imbedded into the hull on the stern starboard side up at the top just below the caprail.
Pete,
As Jim pointed out the HIN, which contains information such as the manufacture, date built, model, and hull number is imprinted on the stern of all boats. Below is a link that explains how to decode Pearson HIN.

I am in the process of buying Laelia - 365 hull number 206. She is currently lying at Sausalito, CA. I will give you an update when/if the sale goes through.
OK - it is official. I am the new owner of Laelia - hull # 206. I am living aboard in Sausalito, CA - for now. I'm looking for work to fill the crusing kitty and finish outfitting so I may move the boat to be nearer the place I am working. I hope to do the circumnavigation that I started in 1976. That one ended with my boat being beat up against a seawall in Typhoon Pamela on Guam. I will try to do better this time.
Ralph,
We are hoping that your first circumnavigation was not in a Pearson 365. If it was, you have a lot of splaining to do.
Welcome aboard.
Good Sailing
Dale
Congratulations Ralph! I have sometimes wondered what it wold feel like to have your house burn down or your boat crushed on the rocks. Better luck this time!
Luck is definitely a good companion. In 1976 I returned to Sausalito after a 5 1/2 year circumnavigation that started from the downtown yacht harbor in 1970. My hands don't have enough fingers to count the times we could have lost the boat - and perhaps ourselves. Then again, this was a time when you had to use a sextant to get around, which kept the seas considerably more empty than today.
Carl
My first boat was a Danish built, wooden sloop - 33' x 8' x 5.5' I would rather have had a 365 but I was even poorer then than I am now ;D She was a pretty snug fit even for a single-hander. She was beautiful - typical Danish craftsmanship throughout. When I contacted the builder to see if I could get lines plans to use in rebuilding her, he said she was meant to be a family day-sailor. That helped me decide to sell her rather than rebuild.
That was in '76 so it was all celestial navigation. It is hard for me to believe even now that people would consider going offshore without being able to go celestial. Electronics and salt water are an uncomfortable mix. I will have GPS but I will be taking and using my sextant as well.
Garner,
I have tried once before to correct the info on my 365 Ketch "Independence" the year is a 76 not 72 as published. I'm still in St. Pete with plans to move south for the next few months after launching and having her on the hard for the last 4 1/2 years.

While strolling around the marina today, I noticed another 365 - Seychelle II - homeport Sausalito, CA. According to USCG documentation she is registered to Gary Sheldon with an address in Clipper Yacht Harbor Marina.
Ralph,
Poor Gary was in the Federal Witness Relocation Program, minding his own business, living on his boat out of site from prying eyes. That is until 10:44:43 PT today....
Garner, don't even bother recording Gary Sheldon as the owner as I am sure by now the Feds will have the boat for sale shortly after the local coroner leaves. Let's at least hope something good comes out of this like he was in the Organ Donor Program.
Dale
Oh no! It looks like someone is/was living aboard. I will have to stop by and see if it really is Gary and he is alive and well - warn him that I've blown his cover. If he's already been rubbed out, I guess I should feed the cat that was lounging on the dodger.
Ralph be careful, you may already know to much! If it isn't Gary he may not let you leave.
Dale you really had me laughing with your reply!

Brad,Welcome to the club. But I must warn you these boats will make you spend too much time and money. And yes you can still fall in love at 58.Have fun with her.Allen
At midnight on Feb 28/ March 1 POG rounded Cape Brett, which is the southern cape of the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, and turned South for Gulf Harbor just North of Auckland and 130 miles away. A large swell was running from weeks of persistent hard southeasterly headwinds that had kept us from going, but we now had the wind on the beam and were doing seven knots on a magically shimmering sea with a full moon above the masts. The self-steering quietly kept the boat on track as she plowed the waves.
It was my last passage on POG. It was the first passage longer than 30 miles for Brendan Thompson, the new owner - his first night under sail at sea - and he was so happy he was almost glowing.
This is a round-about way of announcing that POG is no longer mine - and the moonlit sail along the coast of New Zealand was a sweet farewell to a great boat where in the end everything worked so well, so well.
As of 09/27/2012, we are the proud owners of a 1976 Pearson 365 Ketch, Hull# 32, purchased from Chad Gleason of Glen Cove, NY, USA. Vessel's name previously changed from "Confident" to "SABBATICAL" and will remain. Homeport - Babylon, Long Island, New York, USA.

Two things,
First and foremost, if you are uncomfortable having your boat listed, PLEASE let me know so I can quickly remove you from the list.
Second, if you know of any other 365/367 boats contact me and I will add them to the list.
Thanks
Garner

My name is Vincent Shepherd. I have a 1982 Pearson 367, Hull #33. She renamed herself one day when I was thinking of all the fun she had been, and the work she was causing. She is " Mixed Blessing " of Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada.
Hello Garner,
Diana and I are still enjoying the use of your old dodger, so thanks again.
Anyway, could you please add us to your list. Our info is:

Garner,
Find myself in your neighborhood....
I trekked SV Jeanie (1976/Hull #69) from south Florida to the Chesapeake last Oct. to experience living aboard in this wonderful cold weather. Expect my home port (landlocked Grantham, NH), currently shown as my 'location' in the "list", should really be Annapolis, as we hope to be here for awhile.

Garner, you can update Polaris's owners when it's convent.
Polaris, 1979 Pearson 365 hull number 279 is now owned by Della and David Swartz home port Seward Alaska.
It's sort of fun to see where in the world Pearson 365's live.
Please add Anne B to the list. She is a 1976 Cutter/Ketch Hull # 30.
Her owners are Marty and Carol Southard.
She is currently berthed in the Gulfport (FL) Municipal Marina but has been known to wander off Florida's West Coast and the Keys.
I purchased Hull #255 from Terry Eastman 2 years ago. She has been re-christened SV The Intern.

Hi Garner,
My name is Billy Ellis and I recently purchased hull 365 "Salty Dog" and will be be moving her to Perdido Bay, Alabama this spring. She is currently on the hard in St Michael's undergoing a refit. I am certainly looking forward to learning the ropes on a 365.
Welcome!
Garner-
As you know Linda Miller and I (Mike Hayes) bought Randy Fowlkes 365 in the fall of 2015 and landed on the hard in Reedville, Va. We hope to put Venture back in the water this spring and sail her to Baltimore Inner Harbor. Will need plenty of instruction and advice as we learn about this boat and its mechanics.

Please be advised, that I was honored to purchase Deja vu from Jim & Phyllis Henderson early this Spring of 2016. If you would update the file accordingly, I am sure they would appreciate that. I desire to meet others and lean more, quickly. She is a 1982 and has a list of items that need addressing, putting those in proper order on a fixed budget I am finding to be a challenge.
Any free advice is always appreciated.
Verne & Shannan
