Title: Long handrail screw source
Post by: Skookster on December 18, 2013, 10:52:04 AM
Anybody find a place to buy the 5-inch stainless 10-32 screws that are at either end of the aft teak thru-bolted rails(hold both the coachroof and interior rails)? I was able to find the shorter 3-inch ones used in the middle, but the end ones are longer.
Thanks,

I used all-thread. Got it at Ace Hardware. I pre-drilled my inside and outside rails by clamping them together. Install went smoothly.

Forgot to mention that I did the job using 6-32. In  order to get this all to work with 1/4" bung hole plugs you also need to get these "jet" nuts. These are oval self locking, have a large flat and  fit down a 1/4" hole and you can get a small nut driver on them. A  hex nut will not work.

I used 10-24 from mcmasters when i rebedded the grab rails. I had to remove the old nuts because the original nuts are not 10-24 and I couldn't find 10-32 in the lengths at reasonable cost.  I also used 304 stainless because I could not get 316 in the long lengths, but very little, if any water should reach the bolts anyway, so it shouldn't matter

I had to cut the 4" and 5" to length for each hole.
