I am replacing all the hose, holding tank, and macerator on Alfresco. I bought a Trionics tank and Trident hose. I am thinking of replacing the head, a Wilcox-Crittenden Head-Mate, with a Raritan PHII or the PHC model just to be completely done with this project. The head mounting bolts go though the floor panel underneath the head. I don't know how these bolts are held, either threaded or a nut underneath the panel. There seems to be no way to access the bottom side of this, so I am reluctant to loosen the bolts. Can anyone answer how the head is mounted? Also, any suggestions/references on which head to install?
Regards,
Mike
Mike,
I replaced the head on board Sea Dragon with the Raritan PHII about 10 years ago... I had to replace the "joker" valve this year (my first repair)... So my vote is clearly for the PHII... Now for the answer to your question, the head on board Sea Dragon was held in place with SS lag bolts, bolted into the raised platform. The platform on Sea Dragon has heavy plywood backing glassed in under it to provide strength.
Good luck with Trident hose....... Just did the same on Sea Dragon this season.... Great stuff more than a little tuff to work with in a confined space.

For what it's worth, when I replaced the hose I used two short sections of trident hose on each end of pvc pipe.
When I bought my boat I pulled the Raritan and replaced with a Lavac with 2 y-valves to allow tri mode operation. I replaced all the hose with Trident green stripe and have been very happy with the install. It was a good thing I decided to do this before the system ever got used because a barbasol cap had been flushed and was stuck in the siphon break before the overboard discharge. I really like the Lavac but the price is crazy considering how simple it is.
