Title: That Time of Year Again
Post by: SailingSeaDragon on October 02, 2012, 01:19:41 PM
All,

It is that time of year again, the Annapolis Sailboat show. So the question goes out to all, "Are you going to the boat show and when?" I will be at the show on Friday and would enjoy getting together with others for a beer and burger (or fish & chips).

I'll be there Thursday.  Remember to say hello to Rich at the Cruise RO Water booth.

Well boys... I have once again made the decision to take the money it will cost to transport, feed and house 3 to 5 people to the show and spend some of the money on things the boat and crew needs.

I did think about what would happen if a certain presidential candidate made a return appearance, and it did occur to me that this might indeed be the last Annapolis boat show this slipping middle classer could afford to go to if that somehow happened.

I would love to see/meet all of you but not this year once again.  Have a good time for all of us who will not be attending.

Dale, I agree money would be better spent on an escape plan.Allen

Allen,

Fight or flight... In our case, Lake Erie is 571 feet above sea level.  To escape would require traversing the Welland Canal (owned by Canada) and its lock system which eliminates 325 vertical feet. We would then have to sail the length of Lake Ontario and then out the St Lawrence Seaway and through its lock system to finish off the last 246 feet.

That being said, fight it is!
