Title: split in rudder

I have just found a small split in the rudder about 1 inch long  horizontally approximately centre of the rudder it is sightly wet,boat came out of the water yesterday
has any body had this before ?,what is the make up of the rudder any body had it apart yet

I am assuming that the split is an inch or so long and water is seeping out.  Use a chisel and hammer and cut out the effected area.  The interior of the rudder is compartmentalized with horizontal and vertical pieces....do not be surprised to see purple fiberglass.....dig out the wet area and let the resulting hole dry out....maybe all winter.  Use the west epoxy system to fill in the spring.  Good luck.
