Walter V-drive zinc?
« on: August 07, 2019, 02:05:42 PM »
Does the V-drive cooling section have an anode?  I can't find a plug in the casting for one.  The Walter exploded view drawing is unclear.

Mine does not, I believe the cooling is just a tube the raw water passes through ant the gear oil gets flung onto, not sure how they would get a zinc into that. I managed to avoid photography of that when I disassembled mine.

OK, thanks Leo II.  As the 365 I have is new to me, I may pull the cooler section off and have a look to see its condition.  Just did an oil change on the drive... the oil appeared dark with no milkiness seen.  Cheers!

I took mine apart. The cooler is just a tube that the oil gets flung on. If you don't have water in the oil, it's fine. There is no maintenance.
