I spent my lunch time cruising Yacht World as I often do.  I love to look at boats, compare boats and often the photo gallery of each boat has many good ideas to offer the sharp eye.  I stumbled across a P365 ketch in Noank, CT named Dalliance. Great boat by the way with a ton of upgrades for $25k.  The part that really caught my eye was that it was listed as an Classic & Antique! A 1976. A classic maybe, but antique?  Wow, that one caught me way off guard. So, for all of you P365 owners out there, we are now classic & antique boat owners.

I hate to let the cat out of the bag like this, but.....in 1977 we bought a new Pearson 28, which stretched our budget mightily. The new 365 design was my ultimate impossible dream! Although we've had Talaria for a few years now, she is still that perfect NEW cruiser. She was a classic then and is a classic now, but antique? I DON'T THINK SO! We are both still very young at heart, although maybe a little stiff in the joints. It only seems like a couple of years ago..... Sail on, brothers and sisters. Jim

This antique hopes to close on Dalliance late next week. Just got signed up earlier today.
And I plan on using this board to learn all there is to know about the Pearson 365 ketch.
I've been scanning the site for a couple of weeks and am very impressed. I'll have a lot of
questions, but I hope to keep the redundancies down as much as possible by reading up on
what is already posted.

You got questions? We got answers, and we would love to help you spend your money with all types of suggestions, upgrades and improvements.
Hope all goes well on the acquisition of Dalliance.   Don't forget to fill us in when you do get her home.
I think you will find she is much more than you ever imagined especially under canvas. As every year goes by that we own ours, I am greatfull that we chose what we did.

Thanks for the welcome Maruska. As far as filling you in when I get her home, that won't be for sometime,
likely late spring. It's a little late in the year to be moving a sailboat north from the coast of Connecticut to
the Gulf of St. Lawrance, especially since they have been getting more snow than we have. I think I'm going to leave her in the water over the winter, any thoughts on that. Connecticut isn't exactly the Caribbean, they do get a bit of ice, but apparently there a quite a few boat that stay in year round. Very foreign to me who is use to the water getting very hard for three months or more.

Well, the deed has been done. I completed the purchase of Dalliance on Friday. She's a 1976, 365 ketch, hull #083. Presently in the water in Noank, Connecticut, where she'll spent the winter then in the spring. In May or June we'll be sailing her north to the Gulf of St. Lawrence, where her home port will be Souris, Prince Edward Island. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has sailed up the east coast. Maybe someone who has sailed to the Bras 'dor Lakes or to Newfoundland could give me a few pointers.

Al,
Great to hear the good news on your new acquisition.  That sounds like a great trip.  Keep us informed when you leave and how you made out.
I just had a thought... perhaps north via Bermuda???

No,  Maruska, Bermuda would take me quite a hike out of my way, though wallowing about in
the Gulf Stream at this time of cooler temps up here does have its appeal. No, I'll be going
up Long Island Sound to the Cape Cod canal, out to Provincetown, then striking out for Nova
Scotia from there. Then its along the coast of Nova Scotia to the Canso Strait and into the
Gulf of St. Lawrence and home. But not until the spring, right now the days are too cold and the
nights are too long.
