Can someone help us figure this out...where is the shower supposed to discharge---overboard or into bilge...we see that there is a shower sump overboard discharge thru hull and a discharge line under the starboard settee...it seems odd that it would discharge overboard. If it doesn't, would it discharge into the bilge? Thanks. J Harnar, SV S'altair
Is this site strictly for 365 and 367 owners?
On the 365 the shower, head sink and floor empty into a shower sump pump which discharges it into the outlet you mentioned.
In my boat there is a sump pump switch mounted on the right side of the head sink cabinet.
I don't think its a good idea to drain into the bilge. After awhile it can get really messy
If you do not have the sump pump, it was probably removed. You can get one at Defender or Hamilton Marine.
Expect to pay about $100.
Hope this helps.

Interesting. On our P365, the head sink, shower, and ice box drain into a sump box and is then pumped out of a above water through hull located in the locker under the sink. I have our current sump box slated for replacement as it leaks into the bilge area all the time.
One think for sure....if you drain the shink/shower into the bilge you will constantly be verifying your bilge pump...but it will get stinky from the skin/hair and other rotting "organic" matter...yuck!
Sea Dragon has the same configuration... Drain sump for head sink & shower that pumps the gray water overboard via an above water through hull under the sink..
You can see the drain sump in the last picture of the following page... This is a replacement unit with top purchased from West Marine for $69.00 5 years ago.

Here's a photo of my unit from the West Marine for $99 (//http://images.westmarine.com/full/5339817.jpg). I would NOT buy an Attwood sump again because 3 of the 6 plastic lid retainer clips have broken off in the last 2 years! These Clips keep water from sloshing out in getting into the bilge! I'm trying to figure out of I can repair the broken lid or if I have to buy a new sump! Maybe I'll call Attwood and see if I can buy a new Top!
I"ve been thinking of replacing my shower sump with the Trionic 2 gallon Marine SuperSump (//http://trioniccorp.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=33&Itemid=39). It's a bit more expensive, but it's sealed and I've been happy with the holding tank I ordered from them.
Rich & Dirk,
I agree the Atwood is not the best built unit......

I hope I'm not beating this subject to death, but in reading some of your comments additional points and thoughts came to mind.
I too had an Atwood pump. The float switch went bad causing it to run continuously. The folks at Atwood were very helpfull.
Though the switch for my pump was no longer available, they sent me, at no charge a switch I needed to modify to fit. This too failed after some time.
I replaced the entire unit with a Johnson Pump model JPA-57151 purchaced from Hamilton Marine in Searsport Maine for $85.00 plus, plus.
I found it interesting in that its switch is solid state with sensors to activate the pump. It does not have the clips mentioned by Rich. Its screwed to the boat and there are four screws holding the lid .
I thought it surprising a number of you said your gray water is drained into the bilge. Aside from the "hair", the other stuff is organic and as a result could "evolve" into new life forms with the by product of very foul fragrances. Even my ice box drain is connected to a hand pump (piston type) that drains it into the galley sink.
I like Eveningebb's idea of using a Marine SuperSump. My only concern is its size. There's not a lot of room under the floor boards, and easy access is always a consideration for maintenance. I had a hell of a time installing the Johnson pump.
Most of my preferred locations are taken up by three batteries I relocated several years ago.
Wait, Wait! I have perfect solution, A bucket with a line attached long enough to swing overboard to pick up sea water.
Then build shelves in the shower and turn it into a pantry! The wife will love it!

thanks....I almost bought the Attwood...now I am going to use the Johnson 17151 from Wast Marine
One added suggestion before you plunk down your money at West Marine. I have always found them to be significantly more expensive than other sources. Check with Defender Industries out of Connecticut. If they stock it and have it in their catalog you can bring it in to West and they will match the price. If you have time go to the web and see what's available.
A famous Senator from Illinois Everett Dirkson once said," A million here, a million there, after a while you're talking serious money".
Good luck.

good idea..thanks
I use the Whale Gulper. Good amount of lift that not all diaphragm pumps have. And it pumps solid bits of dirt and rust without clogging. I Y valve it between the hull bilge and the TBD shower bilge holding tank. The Gulper pickup tube drains my bilge to the very bottom. I works in parallel with the high volume Rule pump in the bilge. A magnacraft time delay relay keeps the gulper running for 30 seconds after the float switch goes low. It all pumps out the stern through a separate smaller diameter hose. A momentary push botton switch in the head activates the pump for the preprogrammed run time. I'm not using the thru-hull under the vanity in the head as a discharge at this time.
