Has anyone rebuilt the Pearson Special RV-10 v-drive. I am in El Salvador with a failed Rv-10. A local shop I've used in the past replaced bearings and seals. When reinstalled the unit vibrates in fwd or rev at idle and higher revs. Also emits a hum. Sounds a bit like a complaining differential.
Sound & vibration can come from other sources. Check the cutlass and the alignment of the couplers from the engine to the V-drive and from the V-drive to the prop shaft. Could also be the damper on the flywheel.
Good day my fellow 365'ers. My name is Brian and I just joined the 365 family by buying one for myself. I have a question about the v drive. The v drive won't stay in reverse unless you hold it there forcibly. Can this be readjusted so that it will click into gear and stay there? I've read that it may be the clutch out of sync and just a slight turn in the anti clockwise direction might solve this issue. Is this a possibility? I'd appreciate input from some more seasoned sailors on this issue.

Welcome! I'm guessing you have a Paragon transmission. They do not have a detent for reverse and you need to hold it in the reverse position. It doesn't have anything to do with the v-drive. Here is some information from an earlier post:
