I've needed a new exhaust manifold for my Westerbeke for a while. Westerbeke wants too much for a new one plus its a lousy design (extruded aluminum with end caps). E. J. Bowman in the UK makes these that fit Perkins heads and a bunch of other marine engines.

This one fits the Perkins 4.154 and with the help of drawings from ASAP Ltd in the UK its looking to be an exact fit for the Westerbeke W58. As the story goes were both made from the same Mazda truck motor. (1/2 price of Westerbeke new @ $550) This design features a cuprous nickel insert that the raw water runs through. You can pull those neoprene caps and extract it in 5 minutes for cleaning. The cooling is so efficient that you can run a dry exhaust (if you want).
They make one for the Perkins 4.107/108 also. Looks like it should bolt to the Westerbeke 108/107 head. You will never overheat with one of these.

Pete, I have the Bowman cooler on my 4-108. When I purchased the new engine from Perkins about fifteen years ago that is the cooler on it. One of my concerns was the rubber end caps so I bought spares I still have them unopened in the boat. The only thing that I have replaced is the mixer elbow. The unit is easy to clean,more than enough cooler to do the job. The biggest bitch I have with it makes getting to the injector pump a pain. Hope this helps Allen
Allen, Thanks for the feedback. One more question. Does the Bowman exhaust heat exchanger eliminate the need for a second conventional coolant/raw water heat exchanger? I'm not talking about the oil cooler exchanger I assume that's still there. Pete
Pete, The Bowman Cooler is an all in one cooler Coolant tank,raw water cooing tubes and exaust mixer.The only other cooler I have is an inline oil cooler for the velva-drive. The engine never gets over 180 at any RPMs it is operated at. Allen
Anybody sucessfully installed this bowman exhaust manifold on W40? I'm wondering how it eliminates the engine oil cooler... but "INCOMMUNICADO" probably has different kind.. I wonder which exactly..
