Mine does not, I believe the cooling is just a tube the raw water passes through ant the gear oil gets flung onto, not sure how they would get a zinc into that. I managed to avoid photography of that when I disassembled mine.

It's a bit high to sit on, but it works and I've kept myself busy with other things. I recommend having a custom pickup pipe made for the pee bottle, so urine can be pumped overboard without carrying it through the cabin.

I have a nature's head. I love it!  I empty it once or twice a season.  It does sit a bit high on the riser. I've thought of putting a grate in to raise the rest of the floor, but four years later I just haven't found the time.

Hey Y'all,
My starter seems to be jamming into the flywheel. Especially if it's cold and it takes a few cranks to get the engine kicked over.  If I remove the starter motor and reinstall it, that solves the problem temporarily. Is this an alignment issue?  A worn cog on the starter?  Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this.

Thanks, I bought an 85 amp solenoid from an auto parts store. But had gotten cold feet about installing it.

I'm replacing my starter solenoid. Does anyone know what amperage rating is required for a Westerbeke 40?  I couldn't find it in my manual.

Hi Phil,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  I hope the sale of your boat is easy.  I ride an annual bike fundraiser for ALS research. If anyone wants to donate: tst.als.net/leo. That would be super helpful.

Thanks,
Leo

I also have had some cracks along the aft deep bilge and am about to undertake repair.  Do you know how much epoxy it took to fill the bilge 8" when mixed with vermiculite?  My instinct is to bond in an inch or two of airex core under some fiberglass and then fill with a number of pours of epoxy, covered with more glass.  Did it look like the builders poured some resin/fiberglass strand into the bottom of your hull before glassing in the ballast?

I've loved the suggestion of sliding an un inflated basketball under the motor then pumping it up

It is a 2" wrench on my boat. I cut it much closer to the box end I can take a picture later.  It's just fun carrying a 2" wrench around for a while.

It seems like 11.6 is the way to go.

I confused pitch with blade angle. It's a 17" propellor my pitch options are 10.4, 11.6, or 12.9.

i took my max prop apart last winter and because I was clueless and like to cause myself problems I did not note what the pitch was set to.  From what I have gleaned from previous posts it should either be 10 or 12 degree left hand. I have a w40 with paragon saod and Walter v drive. Does anyone know which pitch setting to choose?

I have developed an affinity for caulking tubes of thixo epoxy especially for filling screw holes and the like.  I am extremely sensitive to epoxy, so the tube helps keep the mess contained. There is no mixing and thickening. The consistency is thick enough not to run out of a 3/8 hole. It costs a bit more than regular epoxy, but you don't need to buy fillers.  I use Jamestown distributors thixo.

I sure hope it's just slipping
