Title: Hurth Transmission with Universal 5444
Post by: kevin barber on April 28, 2021, 09:45:39 AM
Hey everyone!

My Hurth transmission has been slowly losing the ability to shift into forward.  She has no problem in reverse though, so I can see myself motoring backwards a few miles to get home someday!

Of course the model and serial number plate is missing, but the internet seems to think it is a HBW150 2:1 transmission.    Rather than try to rebuild it myself, I will likely replace it with a rebuilt HBW150 or a new ZF15 (which I hear is a drop in replacement).

Has anyone done this job before?

Kevin,

I have same boat, same engine and a ZF 15M that came with the boat.  Transmission appears to be dated 2004, which is the within a year of the date of the v drive (RV-26).

Attached is pic of the specs plate
A: 1.88, B: 1.95,
Model: ZF 15M

Thank you!   Are you in the Panhandle as well?   We are in Gulf Breeze.
